
24 Hour Roadway Criminal Interdiction Training Program

Terrorism, Explosive Recognition and Law Review -- 4 Hours
This block of instruction provides the student with basic information in which to recognize military grade explosive ordinance and the various bomb making materials and components that are associated with homemade improvised explosive devices (IED’s) and the manner in which they may be transported to their final destination. The student will also learn on scene officer safety and the proper notification procedures associated with encountering explosive devices and bomb making materials during the traffic stop.
The Commercial Motor Vehicle Industry -- 8 Hours
This block of instruction provides the student with basic information regarding the Commercial Motor Vehicle industry and how it operates. Covered topics during this block of instruction include USDOT Information, Vehicle Registration, Driver’s Daily Log Book, Commodity Bills, Vehicle Nomenclature, Identifying fictitious cover loads and contraband concealment methods. Learning the presence of Vehicle, Subject, Documentation and Load indicators of ongoing criminal activity and the totality of the circumstances thereby reducing the number of vehicle searches and from developing a “Profile” and increasing their criminal apprehension and contraband seizures and developing proper officer safety procedures when confronting major criminals who are actively engaging in ongoing criminal activity.
Consensual Encounters -- 4 Hours
This block of instruction will provide the student with information related to commercial motor vehicle truck stops and the important role they play within the commercial motor vehicle industry and how the law enforcement officer can successfully utilize local truck stop locations and commercial motor vehicle rest areas in which to conduct their professional criminal interdiction consensual encounters.
Passenger Motor Vehicles -- 8 Hours
During the traffic stop phase it is critical for the law enforcement officer and for the public safety that the road officer quickly identify the presence of vehicle, subject, and documentation indicators that are associated with ongoing criminal activity. Learning to identify these indicators will greatly assist the law enforcement officer in reducing the number of vehicle searches that they are conducting thereby preventing them from developing a "Profile" and increasing their criminal apprehension and contraband seizures and developing proper officer safety procedures when confronting major criminals who are actively engaging in ongoing criminal activity.
